Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese Lunar New Year! This year we celebrate the Year of the Rooster. The Rooster is the tenth in the 12 year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac sign. The years of the Rooster includes 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981. 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029. We have one Rooster in our house, and our daughter is Chinese, so celebrating her heritage everyday, but especially on the New Year is very special to us.
I have partnered once again with Oriental Trading to bring you a Chinese New Year Dinner for family and friends. We have celebrated in restaurants, thrown a large party with other families, but this year we are opting for “take-out” and a quiet New Year at home.

I’m such a fan of paper lanterns, so I thought it would be fun to add some interest above the table and hung some along with a red paper umbrella.
