Fall is here! I love Summer, but honestly, Fall is my favorite season and my favorite way to dress! Today I’m sharing how to style Fall transition outfits. Layering is necessary here in the PNW, and Fall layers can be anything from a cardigan or cashmere sweater over your shoulders, to a great blazer or jacket. If you follow me on Instagram, I just wrapped up 10 Days of Fall Transition Outfits series, and thought it would be great to share the highlights here!
Fall Pattern
Adding a fall pattern is the perfect way to transition warm-weather pieces like denim shorts or a shorter skirt to feel more autumnal. You might be wondering, what exactly is a fall pattern? Think of leopard prints, dark florals, and plaid. This lightweight leopard top, for example, is a great way to incorporate a pattern while the temperatures are still mild. Another excellent option is to find a dress in your favorite style featuring a fall-inspired print.
Fall Vests and Jackets
It might not be cool enough to bundle up, but you can still wear a cute vest or lightweight jacket! I’ve often said that a “third piece” is the finishing touch to any outfit, and this is especially true in the fall. So chic! If you need some “third piece” ideas, consider denim vests, sweater vests, or light jackets.
Classic Pieces
Classics like jeans, button-up shirts, white tees, and even white jeans are perfect for transitioning into fall! Pair your white jeans with a dark denim shirt because we don’t follow that outdated “no white after Labor Day” rule. Take your basic jeans and white tee, and incorporate a few of fall’s hottest trends—like suede and leopard prints—for a fabulous fall look!

Sometimes just a few baby steps make the walk a little easier if you are sad to see the previous season fade away! It doesn’t have to be complicated, and you don’t have to buy lots of new pieces…just find ways to interject what you already have in your closet!
